I’m pretty excited to review the P90X3 workout since I’ve completed it 4 times. If you’re looking for an all-around fitness program that helps you lose weight, increase strength and boost your endurance/flexibility.  You will want to check out this P90X3 workout review.

Tony Horton, the creator of P90X and P90 took everything he learnedp90x3 workout from years of doing p90x, listened to busy people like you and me and crammed it all into 30 minutes workout program. In my opinion, this is without a doubt the best program in the series. I like it so much that I’ve completed it 4 times now.

The P90X3 workout provides the same results as P90X in a fraction of the time. Just about anyone can find 30 minutes in their day to workout.

Unlike P90X, this workout program is great for every level of fitness from beginner to advanced. I feel like you needed a certain level of fitness for P90X.  Tony made the adjustments with P90X3 to allow beginners to jump in on the fun!

You get to do yoga, pilates, legs, back, biceps, triceps and of course abs throughout the entire week. So the results you will get range from strength gains to weight loss.

Unless you have been living under a rock for the last 10 years, you have heard of the workout program called P90X.  Is it legit?  Here is my detailed P90X Review!

P90X Review Overview

The P90X workout is one of the premier workout programs from Beachbody and was designed by Tony Horton. Tony has a number of successful workout programs under his belt, but this is without a doubt his most popular one.

The results that some people are getting are almost too good to be true. Well they were to good to be true before I did the program myself.  This is a tough program that focuses on a method that Tony calls “Muscle Confusion” to make these huge gains in only 90 days.

I’ll go more into the muscle confusion concept next.

What Makes the P90X Workout Better?

So what’s the secret or technique that P90X claims makes it so effective? muscle confusion“Muscle Confusion” Your body is highly adaptable and when you go into the gym day after day after day and perform the same workout over and over again, it’s going to get used to it.

It’s going to realize that it can easily get through that workout and it will see no reason to continue to progress. That’s when results stop and you hit the plateau.

To combat this, you must kick your body out of its comfort zone and give it something it’s not used to seeing. This could be new exercises, new rep ranges, heavier weight, reduced rest, a different execution order of the exercises and so on. As long as something changes, you should still get results.

The P90X system utilizes this principle to the max. They are offering you a total of 12 different workouts so you can be sure your body never knows what’s coming.

Who Is P90X for?

This program is really designed for the intermediate or advance people that have a base level of fitness. I have known a lot of beginners that have completed the program, but they had to repeat the first phase.  This allowed them to get their fitness level up high enough where they could make Phase 2 productive.

The p90x program does offer modified movements for each of their workouts. So this will help beginners keep up with the program.  Please the pace is slower, with a lot of breaks.  This helps you recover and keep up.

But the catch is that all the workout regimens in the program lasts around 50-60 minutes and burn around 500-700 calories and that is a lot. Which is why I think it’s more of an intermediate or advanced workout.

As will every workout plan, you should consult a doctor before you begin the program.

P90X Workout Schedule

The P90X workout programs is 12 weeks long and broken down into 3 p90x workout scheduledifferent phases. Within the phases there is a wide variety of workout styles that will give your body the best overcall workout possible.

Here is a breakdown of the workouts:

  • Chest & Back: This is push and pull to the max…you will go from pushups to pull-ups and by using different hand positions and grips to work different muscles.
  • Plyometrics: (Jump Training) “The Mother of All P90X Workouts! And I kid you not. This is one of the toughest workouts in the program.  Don’t get too scared, there are modifiers for every move.
  • Shoulders & Arms: Man o Man I look forward to this workout. It focuses on the “Glamour Muscles” Shoulder Biceps and Triceps. You will be working these muscles hard on this day. You will do a set of 3 exercise in the order of Shoulder, Biceps then Triceps and then repeat those same moves. 5 Sets
  • Yoga X: Yoga is the fountain of youth according to Tony. This is an intense yoga session that is tough the first few times you do it, but you’ll be come a yoga master by the end of it.
  • Legs & Back: Time for legs, as if I haven’t used them all week in the other workouts, now it’s time to Bring it. In the workout you will go from leg, to calve to pull-ups.
  • Kenpo X: Kenpo is fun. You’ll be done with this workout before you know it. From punching to kicking Karate style, fun packed workout right here.
  • X Stretch: This is mainly used on your recovery weeks but is also your 7th day workout (or you can choose to rest)
  • Core Synergistics: Synergistics is working multiple muscles at the same time. This is another really tough workout for me. You are using your core muscles in every move from pushups to squats and lunges.
  • Chest Shoulders and Triceps: Back to shoulders and triceps. I enjoy all of the non-cardio days and this one is another one of my favorites, you will doing pushups in so many forms on this day while blasting those triceps muscles as well.
  • Back and Biceps: Just what it says…Time to blast those biceps, move after move after move, and your break from biceps is pull ups.
  • Cardio X: Another fun cardio workout. This incorporates all the other cardio workouts in 1. You’ll start with Yoga, then move to Kenpo, Plyo, and finish with Core. This is the shortest P90X workout at 43 minutes, but it’s a huge calorie burn.
  • P90X Ab Ripper X: This is an extreme ab workout that provides great results

What Equipment do you need?

The good news is that most of the P90X movements use your own body weight, but there are a few items that’ll you need to get through the program.

  • Pull-Up Bar – since 3 of the 12 different workouts will have you doing some form of pull-ups / chin-ups. If you don’t have a pull-up bar, you could get away with using resistance bands for these movements.
  • Dumbbells or Resistance Bands – Personally I’d always go with the dumbbells since they are by far better at building muscle and strength compared to resistance bands.

Focus T25 Workout Review

There are so many articles out there that call themselves a T25 workout review. Most of them are extremely biased or very generic with the information they provide.

I would like to give you my detailed T25 review. Take a look over it and decided if it is a good fit for you

Focus T25 Review

Beachbody has released the Focus T25 workout program from Shaun T.Focus-T25 This is a 10 week program split up into 2 phases (T25 Alpha and T25 Beta), each being 5 weeks long.  The workouts themselves are 25 minutes long and are packed full of intensity.  So you get a great workout in a very short time.

Shaun focuses on cardio in these workouts, but there are plenty of strength building movements that it creates an overall good balance in the program. The T25 workout schedule is for 5 days each week with the other two being rest and stretch days.

Who is T25 workout for?

The T25 workout program is for men and women who have an intermediate to advanced level of fitness

If you are still new to exercise, this program might be too intense. Although there is a woman who does low-intensity a low-impact modifiers that would help you.

For those that are brand new to working out, I would suggest either trying the 21 day fix or CIZE. This would be the second step after completing one of those programs

People who enjoy an athletic style workout without complicated choreography

Men and women who lead BUSY lives! The workouts are only 25 minutes long

If you have a full-time job or are taking care of a family, you likely don’t have time to spend a few hours going to and working out at the gym.

Focus T25 Schedule

As mention before, this program is broken into two sections, the T25 Alpha Schedule and the T25 Beta Schedule. Each schedule is 5 weeks long and is designed to prevent you from plateauing and continuing to see improvements.

T25 Alpha Schedule

In the first 5 weeks of the program, you’ll do 5 workouts a week. On the 5th day, you’ll do two workouts before your two days of rest/stretching. Each workout is different and will target the entire body or different body parts on specific days.  You’ll have one day of rest per week and one day to focus on stretching out your body.

I would recommend against programs that have you workout 7 days a week since your body won’t have time to recover. Stretching is also important to help increase your flexibility and make sure you won’t get sore after each workout.  Especially when doing lunges or squats which can lead your muscles to feel really tight.

After finishing the Alpha Phase of T25, you will definitely have lost some inches and pounds. Remember to take your before and after measurements at the end of this cycle.  After your rest day, you are ready to start the Beta Phase!

T25 Beta Schedule

Level Two continues with tough all body workouts but they are more advanced than the Alpha workouts. You’ll still focus on the core, upper and lower body and high intensity cardio workouts. But because it is higher intensity and faster-paced, you’ll burn more calories in the same amount of time.  Don’t skip to this phase until you have finished the full 5 weeks of Alpha!

Focus T25 Meal Plan

They say that 80% of weight loss is your diet, not the workout. The workout just multiplies your results.  You could do 5 workouts a day, but if you are stuffing yourself with chocolate bars and deep fried food on a daily basis, you will NOT lose weight.  You need the right fuel to stay healthy and energized. And you need to make sure that you are burning MORE calories on a daily basis than you are consuming to lose weight!

Included in your T25 package is a full meal plan. The premise of the eating plan is to eat smaller meals instead of 3 big ones. Eat 5 small meals a day to keep your body energized and fueled throughout the day.

Your results are obviously determined by how much effort you put into the program. The potential is there and a lot of people have seen great results from the program.

Once you determine your calories, you can then follow the specific number of containers you need in a day. What are the Core De Force Workouts?

Here is what you should expect from the Core De Force Program:

  • 10 workouts total, and a lot of diversity
  • Duration is between 27-47 minutes, and there are two additional 5 minute videos
  • Less complex moves at first, adding complexity as you enter your third week
  • Modifier at all times, and for each move (very simple to follow, so you can ease your way into the program if necessary)
  • Lots of punches, kicks, and power moves
  • Surprisingly, low-to-medium impact moves throughout the entire workout
  • Workouts are divided into a couple of 3-minute rounds, just like a boxing match. Each has a cardio spike within.
  • Standing rotational moves that don’t feel like ab-work at all, yet target the core far more than series of crunches

 

Here is the full list of Core de Force workouts:

  • MMA Speed – This sets the pace for the first half of the program, and it starts somewhat easy. Core rotation and hip moves, tied into dynamic sequences that are far from repetitive.
  • Dynamic strength – This starts simple, with a lot of push-up and squat variations, plus some balance moves in between. The complexity increases as you repeat the circuit. I really enjoyed the pace. It’s a resistance session through-and-through.
  • 5 Minute Core on the Floor – Apart from being a well-structure ab workout, this one can be used as a supplement to other programs as well. It’s insanely short (only 5 minutes), but it’s innovative and dynamic with a lot of plank variations. Completing it right after another workout is a real core blast.
  • Power sculpt – Power sculpt is a low impact plyometric session, with a lot of back and forth between on the floor moves and standing exercises. This will add some explosiveness to the entire circuit, and your core will do most of the work. Again, it doesn’t feel like a traditional core workout.
  • MMA shred – This one is really dynamic with lots of power kicks. You will switch between jabs, knee kicks, and a volley of punches. A real mixed martial arts training session, if you will. It feels good to move elegantly through each round, and I love how easy it is to coordinate your punches. The whole workout feels like a ghost-boxing match, and adrenaline goes through the roof.
  • MMA Power – Here is where things are starting to become more intense. Cardio is getting fast paced, moves are becoming more complex and a lot of diversity is being introduced. You will learn some more kicks and combine them into killer 3-minute rounds.
  • MMA Plyo – I’ve never previously incorporated so many rotational moves in my workouts. It is refreshing to see how core sessions can be spiced up and done differently. Seeing Plyo in the title made me think this will have more jumping than anything else, but the opposite is true. It’s a fast paced rotational combo. Lots of explosiveness and lots of core moves.
  • Core de Force Relief – This one is 5 minutes only, and goes over stretching moves, mostly targeting your hamstrings. You will ease into deep stretches, and improve your flexibility.
  • Active Recovery – Quite more comprehensive when compared to Core de Force relief, this is the recovery session of Core de Force. Preparing your body for the following week, you are fighting muscle soreness and improving mobility, range of motion and flexibility.
  • Core Kinetics – A bonus workout with lots of unique MMA inspired moves. Rotational work, elegant looking sequences, and rather short duration for the intensity it provides.
  • Learn It – This is the training segment they give you before some of the workouts, trying to build a solid foundation. Most of the kicks are not covered for they are simple enough for you to catch on the fly, but complex movements are dissected and explained carefully.

All in all, the workouts are fast paced, dynamic and target the entirety of your body. This is a boxing, kickboxing and Muay Thai rollercoaster. I had lots of fun going over each and every one.

What is HIIT?

High intensity interval training, also known as HIIT is when performing these exercises for short periods of time, followed by even shorter rest periods. Normally these workouts last between 20 and 45 minutes. One of the most popular forms of HIIT is CrossFit, which aims to strengthen the entire body.

Benefits of HIIT workouts include a lot of exercise in a short amount of time, working your muscles and cardiovascular system at the same time. Because of this HIIT workouts might not be ideal for those who are just starting out—since this could lead to burnout or possibly injury if you’re not strong enough to keep good form the full workout. While Shift Shop might help alleviate this concern by ramping up the intensity, you’ll still want to speak with your doctor beforehand.

Who is Shift Shop for?

Do to how intense HIIT workouts can be and the fast paced can be. I would not recommends this if you are a straight off the couch beginner.  If that’s the case, I would recommend 21 Day Fix or P90 instead.

But if you do have a base level of fitness and are looking to step it up for quick results. This is the program for you!

You should expect to see some weight loss and an increase of your strength and cardio if you follow this program closely. If you like the results that you see, you can always go through the program again.

I would also say that this is a good bridge program for those looking to mix up their routines. For example if you’re just finishing up the insanity workout program and looking for a new workout so you don’t plateau…  This would be a good one to jump to next.

Shift Shop Workout

This is an agility workout program that features the most results-driven training methods to help you get fit and lose weight in just 3 weeks!

Shift Shop is centered around ‘ramping-up,’ which involves an easy start with incremental increases in cardio and strength-training intensity each week.

Based on this idea, here’s a brief overview of what you can expect throughout the program:

  • Week 1 – Shorter 25-minute workouts that promise to help you stay focused and committed, without burning out. From the meal plan perspective, you’ll eat a balanced amount of carbs, protein, and fat.

21 Day Fix Review

So many people are looking for the perfect workout and meal plan combination for weight loss. In reviewing a lot of programs, I see ones that have good workout plans, but lack on the meal plan or great meal plans with weak workouts.  So I wanted to write a review on what I believe is the best workout and meal plan program for weight loss.  Here is my 21 Day Fix Review…

Autumn Calabrese is the creator of the Beachbody 21 Day Fix workout and 21 day fix workouthas years of experience in both her own personal fitness and being a personal trainer. Autumn promises to give you a ‘beach ready body’ in just 3 weeks, which sounds tempting but hard to believe. I’ve seen some people lose up to 15 pounds in this 21 day program.

Autumn combines a solid workout program with the best portion control meal plan that I’ve seen in a very long time. She keep the meal plan simple and realistic for anyone that has little to no experience with portion control.  You are still able to eat a lot of the foods you like, just in these controlled portions

The workouts are perfect for beginners or people getting back into shape. They are not high impact and if you struggle with any of the moments, there is always someone showing you how to modify the movement to fit your needs.

Who is the 21 Day Fix Workout for?

As I mentioned before, I believe this program is best for beginners and those looking to get back into shape that are looking to lost weight and ton their bodies. A realistic expectation would be if you need to lose 5-10 pounds in the next 21 days, if you need to lose more, you can repeat this program multiple times to achieve your fitness and weight loss goals.

It’s also great for both men and women. The advertisements focus on women in the workouts, but I’ve see a lot of men have great success also.

If you fall into this category, this would be a great would program for you

If you have been working out for some time now and are struggling to loss a few extra pounds, the meal plan of this program will be helpful. But I don’t think you’ll be challenged by the workouts.  If that’s the case, I would recommend 21 Day Fix Extreme.  This comes with the same great meal plan system, but the workouts are more challenging than 21 Day Fix.  So if you want to take your fitness to the next level, jump up to 21 Day Fix Extreme.

Body Beast Review

Many people have been saying that The Body Beast Workout is one of the best workouts if you are looking to build muscle. But is it really as good as They Say? Here is my Body Beast Review with everything you need to know to make that decision

Are you looking to build muscle, get toned or just get jacked up for the summer or vacation? Body beast may be the best solution for you!

Don’t worry ladies about bulking up with this workout! You could choose to go that route, but you are more likely to get that slim and toned which is an option with this workout programbody beast

As I mentioned before, the body best workout focused on building and/or toning muscles. If you’re looking for a pure cardio workout to raise your endurance, this isn’t the right one for you.  You should check out the Insanity workout if you’re looking for cardio or PiYo if you’re looking for low impact.

Now that we have that out of the way, Sagi structures this Body Beast schedule very well, it is a 90 day program that has 3 phases. These phases are one month long each and take you through the Build, Bulk and Beast (cut) process.  There are 12 different workouts throughout the program and he schedules them to provide you with the best results.

In the end you will see great results from this workout.  You’ll increase your strength while reducing your fat at the same time.  The meal plan also complements the workouts for even better results.

Is Body Beast For Women and/or Beginners?

Yes of course! I get a lot of females asking if the beast is OK for them or they are worried they might bulk up too much. The truth is bulking up for a woman is hard. Very possible, but you really gotta push, get that diet in check and work hard! All I can say is GO HERE and look at the before and after pictures of the woman and you will see they are not super huge, but more defined, toned, and lean.

As for beginners this is a GREAT WORKOUT! I wish I had this when I started. You get a great foundation of knowledge or great techniques and systems in bodybuilding. You also get the person doing the modified moves with limited equipment which a lot of beginners may need.

Overall yes it is for you! Push play, follow the videos, eat right, stay on track and you will be amazed at your transformation!

Body Beast Schedule

As I mentioned before, the schedule is broken down into 3 one month phases; Build, Bulk and Beast.

  • Build – This phase is the building blocks for the workout. You will build a foundation of muscles and focus on your form and range of motion. You may not see physical results when coming out of this phase but you will feel stronger. This is important for the next phase
  • Bulk – Now that you have the base strength that you need, the workouts and meal plan for phase two will start to build the size of your muscles (or tone if you go that route). You should start seeing your muscles grow in this phase.
  • Beast – I also think of this as the cut phase. Now that you have strength and bulk, this phase chisels you body by cutting the fat away. At the end of this phase you should see significant results from when you started the Body Beast program.

Body Beast Equipment Needs

  • Dumbbells – You will want a variety of weights. I prefer the Bowflex adjustable weights because they don’t take up a lot of space and adjust quickly. But they can be a little pricey, so you can get dumbbell of different weights that your conformable with and upgrade to the adjustable ones at some point in the future
  • Bench – Get a bench if you can otherwise you can use a blow up exercise ball. They do have a guy doing modified moves. The first few times I did the workout I had to follow the modifier and use an exercise ball, but once you go up in weight, you will want to consider a bench
  • Pull Up Bar – A pull up bar with either an assistance band or nearby chair are ideal. Just make sure that your pull up bar is installed correctly so there is no chance of it falling. If you don’t have a pull up bar or not ready for one, you can use resistance bands and follow the modifier.
  • That is really it… like I said you can follow the modified and get away with just some dumbbells, a stability ball, and some resistance bands.

I’ve received a lot of emails over the last few weeks with requests to review a proven low impact workout. One that all ages can perform and see great results.  Here is my Piyo workout review.

The simplest way to describe the PiYo workout program by Beachbody, is to call it a combination of Pilates and yoga.

But unlike Pilates and yoga, PiYo doesn’t force you to perform several small core movements or ask you to hold long poses. Instead, it incorporates what is called “dynamic, flowing sequences” that are meant to shorten the workouts and significantly increase the results.

There are a lot of yoga and Pilates programs out there, but none of them are like PiYo. Chalene (creator of PiYo) takes a new approach to at-home body sculpting and fat loss. We hope this helps you determine whether this particular program is the right fit for you and your fitness goals.

10 Workouts on 3 DVDs

PiYo is a 60-day fitness program led by celebrity fitness trainer, Chalene Johnson. The workout schedule is 6 days a week, and each workout targets different areas of fitness: cardio, body sculpting, abs, and strength training.

If you’re new to Pilates or yoga, you’ll find that some of the movements will be difficult to perfect at first. And the fact that she occasionally fails to alert you of the next exercise means that you will have to keep an eye on the screen the first few times through the workouts. But as time progresses you’ll learn the movements and won’t have to look at the screen as much.

There is a cast member designated as a modifier for each workout, and they do a good job of demonstrating easier alternative movements for each exercise. But even with the modified exercises, make sure take your time to focus on your form. You can pause the workout at any time if you need it.

Chalene is a great motivator in the videos, which is always a good thing. And she motivates without being overly obnoxious (something that Shaun T can occasionally do on his Insanity)

Quick Start Guide

The Quick Start Guide is exactly what the title says, a crash course on what you need to know to get started with the PiYo program. It’s great for beginners and will help you overcome the dependency to look at the screen much quicker.

For that reason, we definitely recommend you read it before starting your first workout.

PiYo 60-Day Workout Calendar

The PiYo 60-Day Workout Calendar is a wall calendar that lists out each of the workouts for the full 60 days of the PiYo program.

We always recommend that you mark off each day on the calendar as you complete it. This is always a great motivator, especially on those tough days

Get Lean Eating Plan

The Get Lean Eating Plan is PiYo’s version of a nutrition guide. As they say, 80% of weight loss and fitness is your diet. Using this guide and sticking with it will help you reach your goals quicker

It’s a great asset for beginners, but can be repeat information if you’ve completed several workout programs.

Tape Measure

The PiYo package comes with its own tape measure for keeping track of your body measurements throughout the course of the program.

This is an underestimated part of the program. It’s very important to take measurement throughout the program, more than just weight.  Often you may not see any changes in your weight, but these measurements will help you see that you are improving!

Buns Workout

The Buns workout video is an optional workout that targets (you guessed it) your booty, along with your quads and hamstrings. Like the rest of the PiYo workouts, Buns uses your bodyweight to increase resistance and tighten and tone your lower body. Modifiers are also included in this workout.

Convenience and Usability

Convenience

Like Insanity, PiYo requires no equipment. All workouts are done using only your bodyweight, making this program extremely convenient for anyone in any location. Many people we have talked to use this workout plan as their go to work out when traveling.

The workout durations range from 25 minutes to 45 minutes and are performed 6 days a week.

Consumers commonly mentioned how fast the workouts seemed to pass, giving them the illusion that the workouts were even faster than their actual duration.

Usability

PiYo is great for people of all fitness levels, body types, and age groups. Its low-impact exercises and lack of jump movements make it one of the easier programs offered by Beachbody.

Financial Investment

The only additional item you need to purchase with PiYo is a yoga mat (and possibly a pair of athletic shoes, if you don’t already own a pair). You can pick up a decent yoga mat for around $15 from your local sporting goods store or order it from Amazon.

PiYo Workout Reviews

PiYo’s strength lies in its effective use of blending Pilates and yoga, which we feel gives it the upper hand over both in terms of its ability to burn fat.

Make no mistake about it, PiYo is a fat-burning workout. If building strength is your focus, you may want to consider another program like Body Beast or P90X.

Their total average weight loss = 27.88 lbs.

You can tell that they are targeting women, but I know a few men that have needed a low impact workout and saw great PiYo results.

We admit we were a little surprised by some of the results we read by other consumers. One in particular involved a person who lost over 30 lbs. and dropped 3” from their waist by the end of 90 days (without combining PiYo with another program).

Other consumers reported losses of 10 lbs. in the first three weeks, 8 lbs. in the last week, and upwards of 20 lbs. after 60 days.

That’s not to say that all the results have been positive. We did come across a couple of reviews in which the consumers admitted to not being able to finish the program due to a lack of motivation.

But overall, the reviews we read and researched were positive.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Great for beginners. This program can easily be picked up and used by anyone, regardless of your body type, fitness level, and/or age.

Very low impact workouts. There is no jumping or joint slaming moves in the PiYo workout program.

Quick workouts. The maximum amount of time you’ll spend on one workout is 45 minutes and seem faster than that

Increased flexibility. Thanks to the yoga elements in the program, many consumers have experienced increased flexibility by the end of the 60 days.

Cons

Fast transitions. Chalene transitions fairly quickly from exercise to exercise (and sometimes doesn’t give cues), so keeping up with the changes can be difficult in certain workouts.
